Our Story

Hummingbird Developers is the creation of Denise and Chris Fowler—a husband-and-wife team with a long-standing passion for property.

It’s something they had both dreamed of doing for years, but like many things in life, the timing was never quite right. When one piece was in place, another wasn’t. But with a bit of patience, perseverance, and the usual Fowler teamwork, the moment finally came—and Hummingbird Developers was born.

What started with Denise’s lifelong love of all things property has grown into a shared venture, built on their complementary strengths, years of experience, and a mutual desire to do things the right way.

Who is Denise?

Denise has always been the driving force behind this business. She's the one with the bold ideas, the courage to try new things, and the determination to make things happen.

Property has always been in her blood—ever since her school days when she dreamed of becoming an architect. Over the years, she's built a wealth of experience in property and construction, including working alongside Ann Maurice of Channel 5 fame, helping deliver training programmes for aspiring Property Stagers.

But Denise wouldn’t be where she is today without Chris. Through thick and thin (and there have definitely been a few thins), he's been her unwavering support and steady anchor.

Who is Chris?

Chris is the steady presence behind the scenes. He’s not one for the spotlight—networking events and being the ‘face’ of anything aren’t really his thing—but that doesn’t mean he’s any less involved. Quite the opposite. While Denise is out front, building connections and driving the vision, Chris is the one quietly making sure everything works smoothly in the background.

He’s the grounding force, the calm in the chaos, and has always been the supportive half of their partnership. For the 44 years they’ve been together, Chris has cheered Denise on, offering encouragement, wisdom, and the kind of steady support that makes all the difference.

Together, they balance each other perfectly. They work because they support each other—and really, that’s what makes a strong business and an even stronger relationship, isn’t it?

Why the name Hummingbird?

Denise has always believed in signs—and when the time came to choose a name for the business, one kept showing up: the hummingbird. It appeared everywhere—on TV, in social media reels, in books. It felt like the universe was nudging her, and the more she thought about it, the more it made perfect sense.

The hummingbird is a tireless worker, darting from place to place with incredible speed and focus. Its wings move so fast they’re almost invisible, yet on the surface it seems calm, graceful, and steady. That’s exactly how Denise and Chris want their business to feel—driven, efficient, and working hard behind the scenes to create something that, on the outside, feels effortless and serene.

And then there’s the colour. Bright and bold, yet warm and inviting—the same atmosphere they want to create in every home they provide. A place where tenants feel welcome, relaxed, and at peace.

At the heart of everything they do is partnership: between each other, with their clients, and with their tenants. Built on trust, mutual support, and a shared vision, Denise and Chris have created more than a business—they’ve built a reflection of who they are, and the life they’ve shared together.
